Nicola Roberts Bares Her Soul: 'Sticks and Stones'

Tear Jerker Alert! Nicola Roberts bares her soul in a powerful track called 'Sticks and Stone's; a deeply personal song, which talks about the bullying and taunts she has faced since hitting the big time with Girls Aloud, after appearing on Popstars: The Rivals.

The song, has a sort of chilling, child's nursery rhyme feel to it and the video is simple but effective, really drawing the atention to the lyrics. It's like reading her personal diary.

This is Nicola's 'Beautiful' (one of Christina Aguilera's biggest hits) and judging by the comments it's already got on Youtube, the song could become an anthem for those who have ever been told they are ugly.

Chris Moyles, the radio DJ who Nicola accused of bullying a few years back should make this his song of the week! I am not sure if this is going to be released as a single but it will appear on 'Cinderella's Eyes' her album which is out soon.

Nicola Roberts: Lucky Day (Video Premiere)

So after watching the unedited version on repeat for the last couple of weeks, the full version is now out. No more looking at 'add effect here' - we get to see the video in all it's technicolour glory.

Still loving the song - good honest pop. Hope this one does better than Beat of My Drum. What do you think of it, and where do you think it will chart?

Nicola Roberts: Lucky Day Teaser (Listen)

Update: Full Video now out!

I just can't get enough of Nicola Roberts at the moment. Today she released another Through Nicola's Eyes  feature, which has a teaser of her second single 'Lucky Day'.

I think this one is going to be HUGE! It's a brilliantly catchy pop song that has a real summery fun feel to it. I hope that her record label gives up on On Air On Sale to give this a chance of doing well in the charts.

Check it out below!

Update: Nicola's record label have taken the Through Nicola's Eyes feature down as apparently it was released too early. Damn them!... Oh well you'll just have to make do with an unedited version of her video instead....massive thanks to the original uploader.

Nicola Roberts: Dance in the Rain feat. CockNBullKid (Listen)

Okay, who'd-a-thunk-it but, whisper, I am actually turning into quite a fan of Nicola Roberts! I am absolutely loving this leaked demo of 'Dance in the Rain", which I hope will become a single and appear on the album 'Cindarella's Eyes', released later in the year. The song features CockNBullKid on backing vocals is a class apart from anything her Girls Aloud colleagues have produced.

And if she's good enough to work with CockNBullKid, Metronomy and Diplo then she's good enough for me! Check it out below.

Update: here is Nicola Roberts B-Side on the physical release of Beat of My Drum - Disco, Blisters and A Comedown...

Update: here is a teaser from Lucky Day, Nicola's 2nd single. Think it is going to be a big hit.

Dancing to the Beat of Nicola Robert's Drum (Listen)

I have just heard the full version of Nicola Roberts debut solo single 'Beat of my Drum' and I have to say I am impressed.

Lil ol Ginge, often ridiculed (unfairly) for her pale skin and shock of red hair, as well as for being the ugly one (again unfairly) in Girls Aloud, the band where she made her name has come out with an attention grabbing, psychadelic, fabulous mash-up of a song, produced by Major Lazer (responsible for the beat sampled by Beyonce in Run the World) that sounds very Japanese pop (in a good way).

I wish Nicola all the best - she certainly can't do any worse than fellow Girls Aloud member Nadine Coyle, who's Tesco CD didn't exactly fly off the shelves. And unlike the most successful GA member so far, Cheryl Cole has done it without a popular TV show giving her extra coverage.

Nicola has written, or co-written all of the tracks on her upcoming album, which for me gets a thumbs up straight away - even it is doesn't end up being all to my taste.

Maybe if Nicola is successful it will be her that is the stumbling block to a Girls Aloud reunion - particularly now that Cheryl has more time on her hands and Nadine flopped.
